NEW WAVE WINDOW OPERATIONS

A new certificate: Jeremy Middlemiss
We just received a really fun email from Jeremy Middlemiss, who left here last week with a brand-new Private certificate. I thought about posting some of it here, but it's so enthusiastic I had to put it all online. Go read it at our "bragging rights" section! -- Laurie

On July 3rd, Ray Hickman passed his checkride with flying colors after several days of instruction from Fred LaSor and Gabe Bourbeau. One of Ray's solo flights lasted over an hour, and he managed to complete his SSA "A" and "B" Badge requirements. We look forward to seeing a lot more of Ray in the future. Late July update: We just learned that Ray and Sally will be coming back in a couple of weeks. It's such fun to see old friends and know they want to keep coming back to SoaringNV!

Minden is ideally located for soaring pilots who want to experience soaring at its best.
We are situated at the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada escarpment, where prevailing winds tumble into the Carson Valley and generate the most consistent high-altitude mountain wave in the world.  High altitude flights are possible here year-'round using "nature's elevator", and record long distance flights are also possible in mountain wave.  Come give it a go!


At the western edge of America's Great Basin, Minden is also the ideal location to set off on long-distance soaring flights during our summer thermal season.  Come fly hundreds of kilometers  daily between June and September.
